HON. ATTORNEY-GENERAL HANDS OVER AFFAIRS OF THE MINISTRY TO SOLICITOR-GENERAL, TO TAKE UP APPOINTMENT AS CHAIRMAN/CEO OF INDEPENDENT CORRUPT PRACTICES AND RELATED OFFENCES COMMISSION (ICPC)
The Honourable Attorney-General/Commissioner for Justice of Jigawa State, Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, SAN (designate) has on Wednesday the 1st day of November, 2023, resigned his appointment following his appointment as Chairman of Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
During the handing over which took place at the Ministry of Justice Conference Hall, the outgoing Attorney-General enjoined all the staff of the Ministry to remain resolute by shying away from all forms of practices that may bring disrepute to public service and the legal profession in general and keep uplifting the ICT initiatives of the State Government in the area of justice delivery. He also urged all the lawyers to key into the Casebox and Digital Justice Team applications of the Ministry and not to allow the system to go waste as the state government has spent a lot of fortune in seeing to the viability of the system. Dr Aliyu also urged the incoming Attorney-General to look into the possibility of adopting the 4-Year Strategic Plan of the Ministry as it would assist in attracting donor agencies to the state. The outgoing HAG/Commissioner for Justice, Dr Musa Adamu Aliyu, also said that the Jigawa State Government has made far reaching improvements in the administration of justice and this needs to be sustained by the hardworking and productive workforce in the Ministry.
Dr Aliyu also expressed his appreciation of the wider and unflinching support he enjoyed from the lawyers and support staff of the Ministry of Justice which galvanized him more and without which the feat attained could not have been possible. He also urged them to replicate or even redouble same to the incoming.
In his remarks the Solicitor-General/Permanent-Secretary Mr. Lawan D. Baba, Esq., who spoke with emotion laden voice said it is with mixed feelings that the . he further said that the staff of Ministry of Justice will greatly miss the good initiatives of Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu which he hoped will be replicated in his new office.
It would be recalled that the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Federal Republic of Nigeria President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday 16th October, 2023, appointed Dr Musa Adamu Aliyu, SAN (designate) as the substantive Chairman of the ICPC after the expiration of the tenure of the erstwhile Chairman. The statement appointing him had recognized the fact that “Dr Musa Adamu Aliyu has embarked on far-reaching reforms as the Attorney-General of Jigawa State since September 2019 and holds Bachelor, Masters and Doctorate degrees in Law. He was also named a Senior Advocate of Nigeria designate in October, 2023.”
