JIGAWA HIGH COURT SENTENCES RAPIST TO LIFE IMPRISONMENT FOR IMPREGNANTING 13 YR OLD GIRL,ONE OTHER TO DEATH BY HANGING FOR KILLING BROTHER-IN-LAW.
The Jigawa High Court of Justice sitting at Kazaure presided over by Honourable Justice Hussaina Adamu Aliyu has on 8th December 2021, convicted one Nasiru Mai Nasara to life imprisonment for the offence of Rape punishable under Section 3 of the Penal Code Law of Jigawa State 2014 (Miscellaneous Amendment).
The defendant who is from Dodal Village in Gwiwa Local Govt area, was accused to have raped and impregnated a 13-year-old girl (names withheld). He was arrested and charged to court for rape offence.
The prosecution called two (2) witnesses in prove of their case, while the defendant testified in his own defence. The judge found the defendant guilty of the offence of Rape and sentenced him to life imprisonment.
The Court has also delivered another judgment on the 8th December, 2021 in a case of Culpable Homicide against one Abdumutallab Isa from Waiwalo Village in Yankwashi Local Government. The defendant was accused to have used a knife and a horn and inflicted injuries on his brother-in-law one Muntari Ibrahim (deceased) which led to his death. Both the prosecution and the defence called witnesses in presenting their respective cases before the court.
Honourable Justice Hussaina Adamu Aliyu found that the prosecution had successfully proved their case beyond reasonable doubt, thereby convicted the defendant to death by hanging for the offence of Culpable Homicide punishable with death under section 221 (b) of the Penal Code Law of Jigawa State.
