COURTESY VISIT:JIGAWA ATTORNEY GENERAL RECIEVES PCACC CHAIRMAN,CONTROLLER CORRECTIONAL SERVICE.
The Honourable Attorney-General/Commissioner for Justice, Barrister Bello Abdulkadir Fanini has received the newly appointed Chairman of and Members of the Public Complaints and Anti-Corrption Commission (PCACC) Barrister Salisu Abdu and the state Controller of Correctional service CC Ado Inuwa on 12th 2024 in his office on a courtesy visit .
The Attorney General while receiving them said,PCCAC has so much to do,now that Jigawa is on the high pedestal in the fight against corruption,i therefore enjoined you to be committed and have fear of Allah in course of discharging the task assigned to the commission.
The Attorney-General added that, the fight against corruption is an integral part of our daily lives and His Excellency Malam Umar Namadi, fca, has indeed made the right choice ,assures the Chairman support of the Ministry in the successful fulfillment of the Commission’s mandate. He said the law establishing the Commission had subjected the powers of Commission to prosecute to the Attorney-General’s powers under Section 211 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended) and this makes the Ministry and the Commission birds of the same feather.
The Chairman of the Commission Barrister Salisu Abdu while responding said, the essence of the visit is to formally introduce the leadership and members of the commission and,to seek collaboration with the Ministry of Justice in the areas of deployment of manpower; rulemaking; investigation; education and sensitization programme and the setting up of the Commission’s Legal Services Department.
Similarly,The State Controller of Correctional service CC Ado Inuwa has paid the courtesy visit to get acquainted with all justice sector stakeholders to begin with Ministry of Justice. He further stated some of the challenges faced with Correctional service in the state ,and urges the Attorney general to look into it,and proffer solutions where possible. We need to synergize for prompht solutions the controller said.
Responding to the controller ,the attorney general Promsie to give in the necessary support to solve the issues raised ,requested the controller to formally write to the ministry in order to get the issues resolved .
In attendance is Permanent Commissioners Alhaji Musa Kallamu Uba Auyo and Alhaji Hassan Hashim and the Commission’s Secretary Barrister Yakubu Ibrahim. The HAG was in the company of the Solicitor-General/Permanent-Secretary Barrister Lawan D. Baba, Director Public Prosecution Barrister Hussaini Abdullahi and the Executive Secretary of Justice Sector and Law Reform Commission Barrister Aisha Suleiman Jahun.
