BRIDGE CONNECT AFRICA INITIATIVE (BCAI), FIDA, VISITS JIGAWA ATTORNEY GENERAL, SEEKS PARTNERSHIP.
The Bridge connect Africa initiative (BCAI) led by its executive Director Mr. Muhammad Sani has paid an advocacy visit to the office of Jigawa State Attorney General/Commissioner for Justice Dr Musa Adamu Aliyu on Tuesday 2nd August 2022, at the state capital Dutse.
BCAI is a non-governmental organization whose mission is to improve access to information and empower grassroots communities through policy advocacy in Africa. The organization with support from Population Reference Bureau (PRB), aims to drive policy change through policy advocacy for the passage/amendment of the Child Protection Bill in three focal states of Northern Nigeria (Bauchi, Jigawa and Kano States).
The Executive Director Mr. Sani has commended the significant progress achieved in Jigawa State Justice Sector through the efforts of the Honourable Attorney-General in passing Violence Against Persons Prohibition Law, Social Protection Law and other legislations which have made impact on the global fight against sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV) and other social vices.
He further reiterated its organizational commitments to partner and support the ministry and other strategic MDA’s in the area of providing manpower for its Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC) and formulation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
The Honourable Attorney-General in his remarks, appreciates BCAI for identifying with the modest achievements recorded by his office and promised to redouble efforts to see that more working legislations are put in place for the betterment of the good people of Jigawa State.
Dr Musa Adamu Aliyu added that, the Jigawa State Governor His Excellency Muhammad Badaru Abubakar, MON, mni, is passionate about gender-based issues and social inclusion, and ensured that women have contributed their quota to the development of the state.
In another development, the Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) has paid a courtesy visit to Dr Musa Adamu Aliyu to introduce its officials and seeks the blessings of the Commissioner on the association’s forthcoming Law Week programme.
The delegation led by the state Coordinator of legal Aid Council Barrister Favour L. C Mbaneme, seeks to work hand in hand with Ministry of Justice legal support to the public especially the less privileged. Miss Favour also appreciates the Commissioner for his fatherly role by bringing Jigawa lawyers into one-fold.
Responding, Dr Aliyu applaud FIDA for the free legal support to the people of the state especially women, he assured them support and to take necessary actions when the need arises.
The Solicitor-General/Permanent-Secretary of the Ministry Alhaji Lawan D. Baba, in his closing remarks applaud BCAI and FIDA for noting the giant strides of this administration in the area of justice delivery and identifying with the Honourable-Attorney-General’s laudable achievements. He called on all the members to use their useful experience in moving Jigawa State and the nation forward.
