In line with the National e-Government Masterplan and the Digital Transformation Agenda of the Federal Government, the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA)has held a one day workshop to present and review a draft document for the implementation of e-governance in Jigawa state.

 Declaring the session open, The Jigawa state Governor His Excellency Alhaji Muhammadu Badaru Abubakar,who was represented by his Deputy Alhaji Umar Namadi said “it is indeed a good development for the state to be in the Frontline of digital transformation, and this will no doubt foster transparency and accountability as it is one of His Excellency’s commitments in the state. We thank NITDA for the kind gesture, Jigawa State government is ever ready to cooperate to ensure the implementation of the e-governance master plan he added. 

The NITDA Director General, Mallam Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, while giving his remarks virtually said; to build a strong foundation, the Agency has been supporting the state with interventions like Information Technology Hub, ICT Innovations and Entrepreneurship, IT Capacity Building Centres, Women in ICT (Capacity Building) amongst others.

The NITDA boss noted that Jigawa state is the first choice for e-Government master plan because of the Jigawa State Comprehensive Development Framework, adding that, with the vision to have a society full of opportunities, where people are sufficiently empowered to participate in decisions and processes that affect their lives in an enabling environment for sustainable economic growth and human-centred development, e-governance implementation has become imperative. 

He said, for any government to be highly competitive and successful, it must integrate digital technology and innovation in all its reforms.

  The document developed by NITDA in conjunction with the Jigawa State Government was presented by the Deputy Director e – government Development and Regulation Engr Salisu Kaka. Kaka said the document is  aimed at providing a concrete master plan that will guide the state on how to incorporate digital technology in running the administrative process of the government. 

Presenting The digital activities in jigawa ministry of Justice, the Honourable commissioner of Justice /Attorney-General Dr Musa Adamu Aliyu also known  as the “Digital attorney” said with the development of our website and other softwares and applications, most of the Ministry’s legal processes are now  done digitally. An assessment, tracking software and legal reporting applications are being used to meet up with the global ICT innovations.

The brain behind the  jigawa e-governance project, the special Adviser to the Governor on Economic Empowerment Muhammad sheik Mujaddadi said in his welcome address, the JGS-EGMP is to foster effective  government service delivery using the ICT, he thanks NITDA for the support and he prayed and hope for better commitment towards the implementation process.
