Digitalizing the Justice Sector: NITDA Donates Computer Laptops to Jigawa State Ministry of Justice.

The Jigawa State Ministry of Justice had earlier received the donation of 50 laptop computers from the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), through a contracting company COBHMOT Global under a project called “provision of digital literacy skills/tools for institutions on promoting digital economy”. The project aimed at enhancing digital administration, to build a literate and edifice digital system, and strengthen the effectiveness and efficiency of all administrative functions. The Honourable Attorney-General of Jigawa State Dr Musa Adamu Aliyu on behalf of the Executive Governor of of the State His Excellency Alhaji Muhammad Badaru Abubakar (MON) Mni said: “To make the Justice Sector more efficient, fairer and less expensive, and to overcome an array of challenges facing the system, digitization of justice sector is very necessary. Technology will no doubt ensure transparency, accountability and easy access to justice he added. The Attorney-General in his statement said, “Technology will be embraced in running the affairs of the Ministry of Justice. “It is part of our systematic plan that all Counsel in the Ministry of Justice will acquire minimum skills in Information Technology to discharge their duties.” He further stated that “The recent achievements the Ministry has witnessed include the E-tracking of cases and training of lawyers and auxiliary staff on how to keep credible and reliable data using their computers.” The Ministry has expressed its appreciation to the Director-General of NITDA Kashif Inuwa Abdullahi for the kind gesture. Presenting the computer laptops, the representative of the DG NITDA, who is also the project manager of contracting company Mr Emmanuel Said, NITDA is always ready to assist in incorporating the justice institutions to the world of information technology. In receiving the donation, the Jigawa state Attorney General and the Commissioner of Justice Dr Musa Adamu Aliyu who was represented by Permanent Secretary/Solicitor General Hauwa Zakar Esq. has said, “NITDA has been helpful to Jigawa state. Recently an ICT centre was established and equipped for the NBA Dutse Branch.
